Elementary Level Teacher Day Program at Elli Education in Vietnam

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Goal:                    The teacher shall help all students entrusted to his or her care to learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to each child’s development as a mature, able, and responsible citizen.

Overview:           The qualified individual is expected to demonstrate patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his or her day to day duties.  He/she must be devoted to work cooperatively with staff, students and parents to develop and maintain a program which is academically superb.

Contracted by:    ELLi upon recommendation of the Program Director for one year.

Responsible to: Program Director

Supervises:         Teaching Assistants, aides, volunteers, and students

Evaluation:         Evaluated by Program Director or his/her assigned delegate

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Hold a bachelor’s degree with an education focus from an accredited college or
  2. Two or more years of classroom teaching experience
  3. Willingness and ability to help with extra-curricular activities

 REQUIRED PERSONAL QUALITIES

  1. Recognise the role of parents as primarily responsible for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that
  2. Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and
  3. Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism.
  4. Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with program
  5. Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted
  6. Place his/her teaching responsibilities ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities.
  7. Make an effort to appreciate and understand the uniqueness of the community and culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Reflect the purpose of the program to offer quality education.
  2. Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of ELLi’s learning
  3. Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the director.
  4. Keep proper discipline in the classroom and within the ELLi premises for a good learning
  5. Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom.
  6. Plan broadly using semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and more currently through the use of a lesson plan
  7. Utilise valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the program’s philosophy.
  8. Care for the whole child, including reaching the students in each of the following dimensions: mental, physical, social, and
  9. Plan through approved channels the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers, and other
  10. Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment or project
  11. Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required and use formative assessment for adjustments on a daily basis.
  12. Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student’s
  13. Keep students, parents, and director adequately informed of progress of deficiencies and give sufficient notice of
  14. Recognise the need for good public relations. Represent the program in a favourable and professional manner to the program’s constituency and the general
  15. Develop and maintain positive rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
  16. Seek the counsel of the director, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable
  17. Attend and participate in scheduled devotions, in-service, retreats, committee, faculty, and Parent-Teacher meetings.
  18. Know the procedures for dealing with emergencies.
  19. Inform the director in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute

Curriculum in Vietnam

Supports the staff with curriculum. Observes classes to see the benefit of the curriculum and the needs for improvement. Works with the Academic Board. (Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Education)

Resource Coordinator in Vietnam

Supports students that are conditional enrollment, falling behind in English, and students that are excelling (challenging them, could start a G/T program). 1 ASA per year (TEFL or Bachelor’s Degree)

STEAM teacher in Vietnam

Teaches all the STEAM classes bilingually with Vietnamese co-teacher with full time Assistant for grades 1-2. Each class has two periods of STEAM. 1 ASA per year (may vary)

IT teacher in Vietnam

Teaches all the IT classes in the grade group assigned with full time Assistant for grades 1-2. Grade 6-9 teacher is responsible for working with MS Vice Principal to complete MOET scores. All IT teachers are responsible for working with the IT department in assisting the school with Sycamore, printers, projectors, emails, etc (IT Support). 1 ASA per year (Bachelor’s Degree in Education/IT preferred)

Music teacher in Vietnam

Teaches all the music classes in the grade group assigned with full time Assistant for grades 1-2. Works with the Vietnamese music department to collaborate on curriculum and music performances. Responsible for planning Christmas event and co-planning the End of the Year event. One teacher is responsible for a drama club, one teacher is responsible for a school choir, one teacher is responsible for a school band/orchestra in collaboration with the Vietnamese Music department. 1 ASA per year (Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Music preferred)

Lead Teacher in Vietnam

Teaches one English class. Responsible for support all the teachers in the grade group with learning the curriculum and lesson planning. Holds weekly meetings with the grade group to discuss improvements and needs. Supports teachers and is part of the leadership of the Expat staff that works together to improve the climate and culture of the school. 1 ASA per year (Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Education)

Grade Level Head (grade 1-3) in Vietnam

Teaches one English class with full time Assistant. Responsible for supporting all the teachers in the grade with learning the curriculum and lesson planning. Special (Social Studies) in Vietnam

Teaches all the social studies classes to the middle school classes. 1 ASA (After School Activity) per year (Bachelor’s Degree in Special or Bachelor’s Degree with experience in special)

Special (Math) in Vietnam

Teaches all the math classes to the grade level group. Works with the Vietnamese Math department to create aligned Math lessons for students. 1 ASA (After School Activity) per year (Bachelor’s Degree in Special or Bachelor’s Degree with experience in special)
