Whitman Academy aims to produce well-educated, globally-minded disciples transformed by the Gospel with a heart for people’s physical and spiritual needs and the ambition to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. Today, Whitman Academy has expanded to a body of 184 students in grades 1-12 from over 20 different countries.
The parents of most Whitman Academy students are people who want to make a difference in the world by serving refugees or starting up businesses to support the local economy. Many are language students. We believe their children deserve an excellent education at an affordable price. To keep tuition costs lower, we are recruiting self-supported teachers who have a heart to serve as well.
Jordan is home to thousands of years of history and culture. Part of the curriculum includes interacting with Jordan’s rich cultural heritage and unique geography. Students take field trips to Biblical, Greek, Byzantine and Medieval sites; they explore unique biospheres like wetlands, coral reefs, and ancient forests as well as fascinating geological areas.
At the heart of our mission is a deep commitment to helping students develop Christian character. The school’s programs and curricula are all based on a Christian world view. All students attend weekly chapel sessions and show God’s love through community service projects. Secondary students are required to complete community service hours to graduate. High school students can deepen their faith in action through participation in student leadership programs.
